On the occasion of the new season of Radio GAMeC, Pedagogy of Hope—a project curated by Lorenzo Giusti and Lara Facco and a Collateral Event of the 2026 Venice Biennale Arte—Afterclass conducted a series of conversations focusing on self-organized art schools: independent educational initiatives, often developed at the margins of institutions, that rethink the relationship between art, pedagogy, community, and professional development.
Through interviews conducted in Venice and remotely by Nicola Ricciardi with artists, curators, educators, and founders of alternative schools—including Sam Thorne, Ahmet Öğüt, Piero Golia, Alessio Antoniolli, and Tirdad Zolghadr—the project launched an initial public investigation into the educational models that inspire Afterclass: intensive, experimental, and dialogue-based environments in which learning emerges through exchange, shared practice, and the creation of new networks.
